Featuring 3.0Ah Lithium-ion batteries which whilst retaining power have an equal weight of a 12V NiMH battery they also boast an impresive life span of over 2000 charge cycles. The Makita Lithium-ion batteries can achieve this impresive perfromance because of the optimum charging system, this unique system enables the battery and charging system to talk to each other via a built in CPU in the charger and CPU in the battery. Through this two way communication between the charger and lithium-ion battery, the charger can recognise the battery and recall its charging history, analyse the batteries condition and usage and charge the battery accordingly. With a variety of Makita LXT Lithium-ion kits available and all 18V units in the range available as a "body only" unit you can build the Makita Lithium-ion system that suits you.
